This year, the 70th Annual Bass Derby Festival will open with a variety of local artists for festival goers enjoyment on the weekend of October 13-15.  The Pole Barn stage will light up with the sounds from all genres.  We invite you to pull up a hay bale, sing, dance, eat, drink and have a good time partying with Rio Vista!

Afterglow will be the opening act of thie year’s 67th Bass Festival. The band recorded their first album with MTA Records in New York in 1968, and it was released again in 1995 by Sundazed Music.  The band was formed in Northern California.  Their original music has been played and sold all over the world via the internet.  A PBS documentary was released in 2012 on View Finder, and aired across the US with the story of Afterglow.  It is still being shown at various times and locations.  To see the video, go to their website:  www.afterglow1968.com

Solid Gold


Back again for another ‘Solid’ performance is the popular band of Solid Gold.  Formed in 2011, in Rio Vista, the band has played many local and Bay Area shows.  They enjoy four part harmony and perform classic cover songs of the 50’s – 70’s.  They play a variety of instruments and will leave you with some special memories of the Bass Festival.  See more on their website:  www.solidgoldriovista.com

Little Motel


Little Motel is a local funk rock band that formed in Rio Vista in the fall of 2012.  They have a following of fans from the area and received their musical inspiration from bands such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, and Sublime.  They have written some original songs as well and played in multiple shows all over Northern California.  They will be leading off Saturday’s entertainment at the Pole Barn.

The Livin Daylites


The Living Daylites play an eclectic mix of “soulful, bluesy, rock’n country, dancing, toe tapping and poolside while sippin on a drink with an umbrella kinda music.”  The group consists of Bob Kinney (singer/songwriter/touring pro), Smiling Hal (recording & touring pro) and one of their drummers from the Stringfellow Entertainment stable.

Bob Kiney’s unique style draws from rock, funk and blues influences, earning him many lead guitar positions including:  Little Anthony & The Imperials, Magic Slim & The Teardrops, and Eddie Money to name a few.

The Primates


Headlining the entertainment on Saturday night will be the Primates performing dance music through an overture of Golden Rock 70’s.  Unbelievable 80’s, Nirvanish 90’s, more Modern Pop stables and even a splash of Country!  Come out and get your primatial groove on!  The Primates have been rocking the Delta and bay area since 1993.
